An X-ray always requires a referral from a dentist or a physician. In order to receive reimbursement from Kela for cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a referral from a specialised dentist or physician is needed.
Panoramic dental x-ray is the basic examination used for gaining an overview of the teeth and jaws. In addition to teeth, the image shows the bone structures of the upper and lower jaw, the temporomandibular joints and sinuses. An X-ray report from a specialised dentist is part of each panorama imaging at Oral.
Detailed tooth X-rays can be used for imaging the roots of individual or adjacent teeth. It is recommended to X-ray molars in detail regularly to support caries diagnostics.
At Oral, each dental X-ray is equipped with a dentist’s assessment of the images. If the image is more difficult to interpret, it can be equipped with a statement from a specialised dentist.

The skull profile might be needed in orthodontics. An X-ray report from a specialised dentist is part of each skull image at Oral. We recommend making an appointment for skull imaging.
The CBCT of the teeth and jaws enables examining the selected area from any angle using a three-dimensional image file. CBCT imaging is used in situations where basic dental X-ray does not provide sufficient information on the teeth.
It is suitable, for example, for the planning of implant treatments, diagnosing of wisdom teeth, imaging of fractured teeth or diagnosing pain or root canal therapy-related problems that cannot be solved with traditional imaging methods. CBCT always requires making an appointment.
When used for implant planning, the CBCT provides the most information when taken with the splint made at the dental lab. When the splint is used, the best results is achieved by ensuring the fit of the splint before imaging. CBTC can also be taken without the splint.
