Massaging the occlusal muscles relieves muscle tension, which may be due to malocclusion, nocturnal bruxism or stress.
An occlusal splint needs to be cleaned every day. Teeth are cleaned before placing the splint and after removing it. Rinse the occlusal splint with water before and after use. You can also use washing-up liquid or a substance or tablets intended for cleaning prosthetics. When the occlusal splint is not in the mouth, it is to be stored in a plastic container or as instructed by a dentist.
Tartar may also accumulate on an occlusal splint. It cannot be removed through home remedies. The tartar can be removed with an ultrasound device by a dentist or dental hygienist.
