Ceramic fillings

A ceramic, or porcelain, filling is strong and feels like your own tooth.

A ceramic filling looks natural and is a lot stronger than a plastic filling. A porcelain filling also feels similar to your own teeth. The filling can be made conventionally at a laboratory or simultaneously at the clinic.

A ceramic filling is as hard as your own tooth. Other upsides of ceramics include its natural colour, strengths and the fact that the filling will not turn yellow or accumulate bacteria. In the long term, a ceramic filling also lasts longer than a plastic filling.

The service process

With a CEREC system that utilises individual 3D modelling, a filling can be made during a single appointment. First, the dentist takes images of the teeth with an intraoral camera. The CEREC device makes the filling based on the images, and the dentist attaches it.

A ceramic filling made conventionally at a laboratory requires several appointments. In this case, the filling is designed and made by a dental technician manually based on a cast taken at the appointment.
